Besides, you can get the chance to stay, live, work, and study in Australia with a temporary partner visa.

Permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801)

If you want to live in Australia with your partner permanently, a subclass 801 visa could be of help. You become eligible for the partner visa only after staying in the country for more than two years. The additional requisite is that the relationship must be continuing. Once you have this visa, you can live permanently and sponsor others as well. Lastly, you can apply for Medicare and have access to all other benefits available to Australian permanent residents.
Some changes were made in the visa process of the partner visa by the Government of Australia. In July 2024, the cost of a permanent partner visa (subclasses 801 and 820) became the same. The cost for renewing and replying for a partner visa is given below, along with its conditions.

Conditions to Renew a Partner Visa

To renew your partner visa, you must be in a genuine relationship wth your partner. Providing updated information and proof of your current relationship is compulsory. You must meet all the conditions set by the Department of Home Affairs when applying for the second stage of your partner visa. Ensure that you have documents such as a joint living arrangement and the expenses of your ongoing relationship. It plays a vital role as evidence. You must meet all the requirements facilitated by the Department of Home Affairs, as they are crucial for renewing your partner visa.

Cost of Partner Visa

The application fee for a partner visa is typically AUD 9,095 for the main applicant, which includes both the subclass 820and subclass 801.

Reapplying after Refusal for a Partner Visa

You can only reapply for a partner visa after the request for your partner visa gets refused. There are some conditions you should know about after a refusal to reapply for it. Provide proper documents and evidence if your application gets rejected. You must meet all the guidelines set by the Department of Home Affairs to be able to reapply for a partner visa. After reapplying for the visa, you need to wait for some time.

Cost for Reapplying a Partner Visa

The cost for reapplying for a partner visa is generally the same for each subclass. Dosen’t matter if it is a permanent visa or a temporary visa. For main applicants, the fee for reapplying for a partner visa is AUD 9,095, which is the same for both permanent partner visa and temporary partner visa. If you were granted a prospective marriage visa, then the cost for reapplying is AUD 1,920.

Processing Time of Partner Visa

  • The processing time for each type of partner visa varies and depends on the circumstances and the documentation. 

The process time of a permanent partner visa is 12 months for 50% of applicants.

For 90% of applicants, the process time of a permanent partner visa is 29 months.

For 50% of applicants, the process time of a temporary partner visa is 8 months.

For 50% of applicants, the process time of a temporary partner visa is 26 months.
