Introduction

With a parent visa subclass 103 people can live in Australia for a long period and permanently. It is a permanent residency visa. Only those people whose children are Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens are eligible for this visa. A parent visa holder can live and work freely in Australia and is available only to those whose children are completely settled in that country. All applicants or parents need to fulfill the criteria set by the Government of Australia to be eligible for this visa.

Benefits of Having a Parent Visa

The Department of Home Affairs has provided many benefits to the parent visa 103 holders. Once you have the parent visa 103, you can work in Australia freely. Additionally, you are allowed to enter the country and from the country as many times as you want, but only for 5 years from the visa grant date. Only those people are eligible for the benefits whose children are Australian citizens, eligible New Zealand citizens, or permanent residents of Australia. With this, some more benefits can be enjoyed by this visa holder, which are described below:

Sponsor family members

With Visa subclass 103, you get the sponsorship rights as well. This visa holder can sponsor any family member in Australia if he or she is eligible and fulfills the criteria set by the Department of Home Affairs.

Access to Australian Citizenship

A parent visa gives the holder an opportunity to be a permanent resident of that country. Any parent with this visa can later apply for Australian citizenship after meeting some permanent residency requirements.

Permanent stay

The parent visa is a permanent residency visa, which means the visa holder is allowed to live and stay permanently in the country.

Travel Freely

With a visa subclass 103, the parent is allowed to travel within the country freely. You can also travel to and from Australia freely and as many times as you wish. The travel flexibility is granted for five years from the visa grant date to the eligible person.

Rights to Work and Study

Anyone with a parent visa is allowed to work freely in Australia. With this visa, they can also study and pursue self-development in Australia. With working rights, the visa holder can do any job or work that is suitable for them.

Processing Time of Parent Visa Subclass 103

The processing time of visa subclass 103 is too lengthy compared to any other visa subclass. It takes a long time, sometimes even 30 years, to get finalized. This visa has a higher processing time but a lower fee amount. Processing time of this visa is lengthy because of the higher demand and several applications. As the number of application forms adds up every year, the queue for this visa increases. Due to this, the Department of Home Affairs can not provide a precise processing date or time to the applicants.

Required Conditions for a Parent Visa 103

To get eligible for a parent visa, the person must fulfill the following conditions:

Children must have Australian citizenship

Applicant's children should have Australian citizenship. They are required to be Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia, or eligible citizens of New Zealand. If the visa applicants' children are not Australian citizens, then they do not fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Family balance test

To pass the family balance test, the applicant’s children must be eligible Australian citizens. The applicant's children, if not all, then at least half of them, should hold a permanent residency in Australia. If not a permanent resident, they could also be an eligible citizen of New Zealand or Australia.

Good health and character

The parent visa applicants should also fulfill all the health and character requirements set by the Government of Australia. It means that the applicant must not have any bad reputation and should not have a medical issue that might hinder the health care of Australian citizens.

Assurance of Support

It is required for the applicant to provide an AOS or assurance of support. This signifies that the applicants will not rely on the Government welfare for financial support. Basically, AOS is provided by applicants' children, stating that they will be responsible for the applicants' financial support.

Conclusion

A 103 subclass visa holder is allowed to work freely in Australia. He or she only has to fulfill the required conditions to get eligible for this visa, and then they can start their journey in the new country with their children. All the parents with a parent visa can live, work, and study in Australia with additional public medicare facilities, which are available and provided by the Australian Government.
