They are responsible for planning, planting, preparing soil, fertilising, pest and weed control, harvesting, sorting, and marketing of crops. They monitor and maintain the health and condition of the livestock. They are also responsible for organising and conducting the sales, purchase and transportation activities of the livestock and products. They also manage the capital of the business and financial records and monitor market activities. They also supervise work and staff and recruit new employees to fulfil the labour requirements and train them.
The work of a Mixed Crop and Livestock Farmer involves selecting stock, implementing breeding programs, and raising animals. They also direct and oversee general farming and production activities. They monitor the marketing trends to manage and maintain the production accordingly. If you want to work in this occupation, then you will be required to fulfil certain criteria. Additionally, you will be required to have an AQF Bachelor degree or higher and at least one year of work experience in the relevant or nominated occupation.
