Electorate Officer

An electorate officer is a person who works to handle the electorate office of the politician and connect with the media and other people on their behalf. They play two roles mainly as election administrators. They have multiple tasks to do, they prepare electoral rolls, manage polling stations, conduct voting, count ballots and announce results. On the other side as elected officials, they handle constituent services, office management, and stakeholder engagement, but are prohibited from engaging in party-specific political activities, such as informing people how to vote or promoting a candidate.

They also give their secretarial and administrative support to the member and handle the daily tasks of the electorate office. They keep an eye on expenditure and control finances accordingly. They make sure that parliament and their member’s professional image is fine by giving full support to the electorate office. This Electorate Officer position performs a variety of tasks to support the work of the Member of Parliament. The Electorate Officer's responsibility is to gather, research, analyze, and provide information relevant to the Member's needs. This role is also the initial contact point for public inquiries and provides sensitive and confidential advocacy and support to the Members of the Electorate. Duties also include assisting with administrative tasks related to the work of the Electorate Office as needed.
